HELP US PRESERVE OUR ISLANDS
HOW TO VISIT LOFOTEN
Welcome to Hamnøy, one of the most treasured corners of the Lofoten Islands. Here, between the mountains and the sea, nature still speaks in its own quiet voice.
We are proud to share this breathtaking place with you — and we invite you to join us in protecting its fragile beauty.
Lofoten’s landscapes are wild, raw, and deeply alive.
But they are also delicate.
Every footprint, every piece of litter, every drop of water and spark of energy makes a difference. When you visit us, we ask you to travel with care — to slow down, to notice, and to tread gently.
Together, we take care of Lofoten
Stay on marked paths. Our mosses and plants take years to recover from a single step outside the trails.
Leave no trace. Bring your garbage with you, even the smallest scraps. What you carry in, you carry out.
Park responsibly. Use designated parking areas and avoid stopping in places that could damage the ground or block narrow roads and complicate the locals’ life.
Respect local rules for camping. Wild camping is not allowed everywhere — please check signs and choose spots where it’s permitted.
Be mindful of energy and water. We do our part to preserve resources here. Use only what you need, and think twice before requesting extra towels or linens. Small acts of awareness keep our island sustainable.
